How Does it Work?

After your veterinarian diagnoses your pet and recommends surgery, they will discuss availability with me and a surgery day will be confirmed. A surgical estimate will be provided by your veterinarian.

You drop your pet off at your vet’s clinic the morning of surgery (fasted). I will call before and after surgery to discuss my pre-operative exam, findings, and post-operative care. If you would like an in-person consultation prior to surgery, that can also be arranged (additional fee).

Your pet will be discharged the afternoon following surgery (in most cases) and discharge instructions and medications will be provided. Additional information and answer to many questions is available on our website, but your veterinary office and I will be available for questions as needed.

What is the most common orthopedic surgery in animals?

Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) is the most commonly performed orthopedic surgery
and is most commonly performed in dogs. It is a procedure used to stabilize the knee following
cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) tears. The very versatile, comfortable, and water-resistant, Lick Sleeves are used as the most effective solution for recovery worries. Please see our Client Resources page for more information
about TPLO and CCL tears.
