Mobile Veterinary Surgery
Veterinary Surgery of Georgia was created to bring board-certified surgery into your primary vet’s operating room. You can be confident that your pet is receiving the same advanced surgical care you would find in a referral center, but in a familiar and comfortable environment. This means less traveling for you and your pet, as well as closer collaboration between your primary vet and the surgery team.
Dr. Abby Lockwood
Board Certified Surgeon
If your pet needs surgery, especially the convenience of a mobile vet surgery, it can be stressful and time-consuming to find a specialist who can provide the necessary care. But what if specialty surgery was available in a more accessible primary practice setting? That’s exactly what Veterinary Surgery of Georgia was created to do.
Veterinary Surgery of Georgia is a mobile veterinary surgical service in the north Georgia region, founded by board-certified veterinary surgeon Dr. Abby Lockwood. With Veterinary Surgery of Georgia, pet owners can be confident that their furry family members are receiving thorough and advanced surgical care in a familiar and comfortable environment.
Dr. Lockwood has extensive experience in both orthopedic and soft tissue surgery in dogs and cats. She completed her surgical residency and Master’s degree at the University of Illinois and has been board-certified since 2014. Before that, she worked as a surgical intern at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists in Houston, TX and a rotating intern at Auburn University.
The convenience of mobile vet surgery means that pets can receive the care they need without the added stress of traveling to a outside referral center. With Veterinary Surgery of Georgia, there’s no sacrifice in quality. Dr. Lockwood brings the same level of expertise and technique to each surgical procedure, ensuring the best possible outcome for each patient.
In her free time, Dr. Lockwood enjoys playing soccer, driving her 2004 Miata at the track, and loving on her own pets. She has two dogs named Riley and Rutecki (Roo) and a cat named Remy. Dr. Lockwood also serves as an orthopedic and soft tissue surgical consultant for Veterinary Information Network.
The Veterinary Surgery of Georgia team includes veterinary assistant Casey Jackson, who has been working with Dr. Lockwood since 2017. Casey has extensive knowledge in anesthesia and surgery and is dedicated to providing the highest level of care to each patient. She enjoys sewing and playing soccer and kickball on the weekends.
